Podiatry

Podiatry is a medical area of specialty focused on the care of the foot and ankle. The specialists who work within podiatry, known as podiatrists, are skilled medically-trained doctors who treat patients dealing with a range of ankle and foot problems. While some podiatrists are trained only in the conservative, nonsurgical practice of podiatric medicine, our podiatrists at Aspen Orthopedic Specialists are surgical podiatrists, meaning that have additional, advanced training in surgical techniques to treat the foot and ankle so they may offer surgical treatment options in addition to nonoperative care.

To become a podiatrist, our foot and ankle surgeons earned a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (D.P.M.) degree through four years of training at podiatric medical school followed by residency training. Additionally, our surgical podiatrists went on to pursue fellowship training as well as board certification.

Podiatrists treat several different types of conditions and injuries of the foot and ankle, including diabetic foot pain, bunions, ingrown toenails, heel pain, or flat feet. Whatever the podiatric condition, our podiatric surgeons use their medical and surgical training to deliver treatments best suited for your unique needs.
